Check a MIDI keyboard against your desk and stand
A published width is a starting measurement, not a guarantee that a controller will be comfortable on your desk. The cables, pedals, controls and space for hands all use part of the same work area.
Measure the usable surface
Measure the flat area where the keyboard will actually sit, not the full desktop if a monitor stand, laptop or mixer already occupies part of it. Compare that area with the exact controller's published width and depth. If the product page gives dimensions in more than one unit, use the original manufacturer values and avoid rounding a near fit into a pass.
Add clearance around the body
Leave space for the USB, DIN MIDI and pedal connectors to bend without being forced against a wall. Reserve a path for your hands, pitch/modulation controls and any faders or pads you expect to reach. A controller may physically fit while leaving no room for the rest of the setup or a useful playing posture.
Check the stand separately
For a stand, confirm support width, depth, stability and playing height using the exact controller dimensions. Key count does not tell you where the frame supports will meet the chassis. A long board can extend beyond a stand; a compact board can still have controls that need top-side clearance. Use the manufacturer's stand and weight guidance where available.
Use a mock layout when the fit is close
Mark the body outline with paper or removable tape. Place the cable exits and pedal where they would sit, then stand or sit in the playing position. Include nearby objects that cannot move during a session. The mock layout cannot assess key feel or ergonomics, but it can reveal obvious clearance problems before purchase.
Our finder uses published body width as a first filter only. It does not subtract for cable room or certify a particular desk, stand or posture.
For a width-only answer, the VI-series bodies are individually measured rather than unknown: the exact VI25, VI49 and VI61 guides give 24.6, 37.6 and 44.1 inches, so the first selectable caps that admit them are 24.75, 37.75 and 44.25 inches respectively. Other models without an exact published chassis width—including Q Mini, Q49 MKII and Q88 MKII—remain withheld even at 60 inches. Bare-body width is not cable or stand clearance.
The VI-series bodies have exact model-specific width boundaries: VI25 is 24.6 inches, VI49 is 37.6 inches and VI61 is 44.1 inches. A 24.5-inch limit excludes VI25 and 24.75 admits it; the corresponding steps are 37.5/37.75 for VI49 and 44/44.25 for VI61. These are bare-body thresholds; cables, hands and support remain extra.
At a 24.5-inch body cap, VI25 still misses
VI25's published 24.6-inch width is just beyond this limit; VI49 and VI61 need still more width. Smaller documented DIN alternatives include the Akai MPK Mini Plus and Arturia KeyStep 37 mk2. Check the same 24.5-inch maximum.
VI25 first enters at a 24.75-inch cap
The VI25's 24.6-inch published body fits the next valid quarter-inch limit after 24.5; VI49 at 37.6 inches and VI61 at 44.1 inches remain outside. The VI25 and MPK Mini Plus are assessed options under this exact width answer, but their key formats and control surfaces differ. Use the same 24.75-inch finder cap.
At 37.5 inches, VI49 is still a fraction too wide
The VI49's model-specific 37.6-inch chassis does not clear a 37.5-inch cap; VI25 does, while VI61 is wider still. The VI25, Keystage-49 and Oxygen Pro 49 offer different key counts and hardware routes within the assessed width set. Check the identical 37.5-inch maximum.
VI49 clears at the next valid 37.75-inch cap
At this quarter-inch setting, VI49's 37.6-inch published shell enters; VI61 at 44.1 inches remains outside. VI25 also fits, while the VI49 and Oxygen Pro 49 are 49-key alternatives with different surface layouts. Use the same 37.75-inch cap.
The VI61 is wider than a 44-inch limit
The VI61 manual lists a 44.1-inch body width, so 44 inches is too narrow; VI25 and VI49 fit this body cap. Compare the VI49 with the 61-key Oxygen Pro 61, whose 38-inch body is inside the same numerical limit. Check the identical 44-inch maximum.
VI61 enters at the next 44.25-inch setting
The exact VI61 width is 44.1 inches, so it first passes at 44.25 inches; VI25 and VI49 also fit. The VI61 and Oxygen Pro 61 both meet this bare-body cap but differ in their control layouts and host details. Use the same 44.25-inch finder answer.
Read key floor, body width and DIN together
These six linked answers hold direct DIN required while moving the physical key floor and bare-body cap together. They show exactly when the VI25, VI49 and VI61 enter a real combined shortlist: DIN alone does not erase the different key counts, and body width is not a clearance guarantee.
25 keys, DIN, 24.5 inches
The 24.6-inch VI25 misses this cap; the smaller reviewed DIN alternatives remain, including the MPK Mini Plus and MPK Mini Plus II. Check this same 25-key/DIN/24.5-inch answer.
25 keys, DIN, 24.75 inches
At the next quarter-inch setting, VI25 joins the 25-key-and-DIN set; its 24.6-inch body clears 24.75 inches. Check this same 25-key/DIN/24.75-inch answer.
49 keys, DIN, 37.5 inches
The 49-key VI49 has a 37.6-inch published body and is still too wide; the Arturia KeyLab 49 mk3 remains an assessed 49-key DIN option inside this cap. Check this same 49-key/DIN/37.5-inch answer.
49 keys, DIN, 37.75 inches
At 37.75 inches, VI49 enters the 49-key DIN set; the 25-key VI25 is below the range floor and VI61 remains too wide. Check this same 49-key/DIN/37.75-inch answer.
61 keys, DIN, 44 inches
The 61-key VI61 is 44.1 inches wide and misses a 44-inch cap; the KeyLab Essential 61 mk3 remains within this limit. Check this same 61-key/DIN/44-inch answer.
61 keys, DIN, 44.25 inches
The VI61 first enters at 44.25 inches, the next selectable quarter-inch cap above its 44.1-inch chassis width. Check this same 61-key/DIN/44.25-inch answer.
At every selectable body-width limit from 16 to 60 inches, the Alesis Q Mini, Q49 MKII and Q88 MKII are withheld because the exact reviewed sources publish no chassis width; the Q88's 88 keys, DIN output and product image cannot prove a numeric fit. Check the same width question at its largest supported 60-inch limit.
The earlier-generation Roland A-49 body is 32-15/16 inches (32.9375 in): it misses a 32.75-inch cap and first fits at 33 inches when earlier models, a 49-key floor and DIN output are selected. Compare 32.75 inches with 33 inches. This is published body width only, not cable or hand clearance.
The discontinued A-500S is 32-13/16 inches (32.8125 in), so it crosses at the same next selectable 33-inch cap for this earlier/49-key/DIN answer; unlike the A-49, it specifies four-AA battery power and one MIDI OUT, but not channel aftertouch or a pad bank. The A-49 is 32-15/16 inches and also enters at 33. Compare the 32.75-inch screen with the 33-inch screen; both measurements are chassis width, not installed clearance.
The discontinued 76-key Roland A-37 is 47-1/16 inches (47.0625 in) wide. With earlier=yes and a 73-key floor, a 47-inch limit returns no assessed model; the A-37 first clears the next valid 47.25-inch cap. The product page documents two MIDI outputs but not connector pin count, and no accessible US operator manual was found, so this example makes no DIN or USB compatibility claim. Check 47 inches and compare the 47.25-inch cap. No reviewed keyboard with at least 73 keys and an earlier-enabled result fits a 47-inch body cap; this is the assessed set, not a claim about every product in the market.
The discontinued Roland PC-70 has 49 full-size velocity-sensitive keys and a 33-1/4-inch (33.25-inch) body. The A-49 and A-500S are examples of earlier 49-key configurations inside a 33-inch chassis cap. The PC-70’s 33-1/4-inch body misses the 33-inch cap, even with earlier=yes and a 49-key floor. See the 33-inch screen.
At the next selectable 33.25-inch body cap, the 49-key PC-70 enters the earlier-inclusive match set. Compare the 33.25-inch screen. Its manual lists MIDI OUT and a 9 V adaptor but no USB port, and the textual specification does not identify the MIDI connector pin format; leave USB-C and DIN-required tasks to configurations that document those connections. Body width is not cable, hand or stand clearance.
With only earlier=yes, a 49-key minimum and the 33.25-inch cap selected, the PC-70 is one of 22 matching configurations. Requiring USB-C instead excludes it; the five USB-C matches are a different task, including the documented KeyLab 49 mk3. See the same width and key floor with USB-C required.
Requiring five-pin DIN MIDI Out also excludes the PC-70 because its manual does not specify that connector format; 16 configurations meet the otherwise identical 49-key/33.25-inch brief, including the documented A-500S. Compare with DIN required.
Pressure-sensitive pads are a separate requirement from key velocity and aftertouch. Adding that requirement excludes the PC-70, whose panel has no pad bank; nine models remain in this screen, including the A-500PRO. Compare with pressure-sensitive pads required.
When all three constraints—USB-C, DIN output and pressure-sensitive pads—are required with the same 49-key and 33.25-inch limits, four configurations remain and PC-70 is excluded. One documented candidate is the KeyLab 49 mk3; verify the exact cable, host and software arrangement independently. See that complete combination.
The current-reference Roland A-88MKII body is 56-5/16 inches (56.3125 in). The 56-5/16-inch Roland A-88MKII body (56.3125 in) misses a 56.25-inch width-only cap and first clears 56.5 inches. Compare 56.25 inches with 56.5 inches; these bare-body values do not reserve room for cables, hands or support.
The Roland A-88MKII measures 56-5/16 inches across and fits beneath the supported 60-inch body cap. This remains a bare-body width filter, not a guarantee that the keyboard fits a stand or leaves room for comfortable playing. See the same 60-inch width-only answer.
What a quarter-inch width limit does to this reviewed set
KORG's nanoKEY Studio measures 10.94 inches wide and the Black nanoKEY2 measures 12.80 inches; both are below the finder’s smallest selectable 16-inch cap. They therefore appear in every valid width-only answer without creating a selectable crossing; these are bare-body measurements, not working-space clearance. Check the smallest width-only answer.
The examples below show manufacturer body-width boundaries, not usable setup clearance. A controller can fit its numeric width cap and still need space for connectors, cable bends, hands, pedals and its support surface. Each linked finder result preserves its stated key, generation and width conditions.
For the exact 37-key/22.25-inch boundary witness, see the KORG microKEY Air-37 review; its manufacturer-listed 22.24-inch body is just inside that next supported cap.
The numeric-only witnesses hold the other answers neutral. The 22.24-inch Air-37 misses 22 inches and first clears the valid 22.25-inch cap. The 27.91-inch Air-49 misses 27.75 inches and first clears 28. The 33.46-inch Air-61 misses 33.25 and first clears 33.5. Compare width-only presets at 22 and 22.25 inches, 27.75 and 28 inches, or 33.25 and 33.5 inches. The same widths also change whether a model clears a chosen key floor, as the separate interaction examples below show.
KORG lists the Air-25, Air-37, Air-49 and Air-61 body widths as 15.55, 22.24, 27.91 and 33.46 inches. The Air-25 is below the finder’s smallest 16-inch setting, so a width-only screen retains it throughout the supported range; its review distinguishes the active chassis from desk and cable clearance. KORG's Air-37, Air-49 and Air-61 bodies are 22.24, 27.91 and 33.46 inches wide, clearing their first valid quarter-inch caps at 22.25, 28 and 33.5 inches. With a 37-key floor, Air-37 is absent at 22 inches and enters at 22.25 inches; at that cap the longer Air-49/61 do not fit. With 49 keys required, no reviewed width-confirmed configuration fits at 27.75 inches, while the Air-49 is admitted at 28 inches. With 61 keys required, no reviewed width-confirmed configuration fits at 33.25 inches; the Air-61 clears the body cap at 33.5 inches. Compare the Air-25 separately: all four have velocity-sensitive Natural Touch mini keys, USB Type-B or alternate two-AA Bluetooth LE host operation, and no documented direct DIN, pressure-sensitive pads or sound engine. Published widths are chassis only, not cable bends, hand room or support clearance; check the KORG reviews for runtime conflicts, host requirements and the Air-49 source-unit discrepancy.
At a 22-inch cap, KORG's Air-37 (22.24 inches) remains too wide; at 22.25 inches, this 37-key body first fits. The 21.7-inch KeyStep 37 mk2 remains a width-confirmed 37-key alternative at the narrower cap. No reviewed width-confirmed configuration meets the 49-key floor at 27.75 inches; the 27.91-inch Air-49 first fits at 28 inches. No reviewed width-confirmed configuration meets the 61-key floor at 33.25 inches; the 33.46-inch Air-61 first fits at 33.5 inches. Recheck identical key floors at 37 keys / 22 inches and 37 keys / 22.25 inches, 49 keys / 27.75 inches and 49 keys / 28 inches, or 61 keys / 33.25 inches and 61 keys / 33.5 inches. Each comparison is a published-body screen, not working clearance.
Native Instruments publishes bare-body widths for the S-series MK3: S49 is 31.5827 in, S61 is 38.0866 in, and S88 is 53.2677 in. Their first selectable quarter-inch caps are 31.75, 38.25 and 53.5 inches respectively. Compare 31.5 / 31.75, 38 / 38.25, and 53.25 / 53.5 inches to see those three same-condition width transitions. At 53.25 inches the Kontrol S88 MK3 (53.2677 in) is still too wide; the next valid 53.5-inch cap admits it. The A25/A49/A61 source pages and manual do not publish chassis widths, so they are withheld when a numeric width cap is entered. These are bare-body screens only; allow extra room for power, MIDI, USB and pedal leads, hands and support furniture.
KORG publishes bare-body widths of 32.05 inches for Keystage-49 and 38.54 inches for Keystage-61: the 49 first clears the valid 32.25-inch cap after 32 inches excludes it, and the 61 first clears 38.75 after 38.5 excludes it. These are body-only screens; reserve separate room for leads, hands and support. At 32 inches, the 32.05-inch Keystage-49 body still exceeds the cap; its next valid quarter-inch answer is 32.25. At 32.25 inches, the 32.05-inch Keystage-49 first clears this quarter-inch body cap; 32 inches is too narrow. At 38.5 inches Keystage-61 (38.54 in) remains too wide; its next valid cap is 38.75. The Keystage-49 remains within this body cap. At 38.75 inches, the 38.54-inch Keystage-61 clears the next valid quarter-inch body cap. Read the Keystage-49 review for its 49-note range and the Keystage-61 review for the 61-key sibling. The 32.05-inch body is excluded at 32 inches and admitted at 32.25; at 38.5 inches, Keystage-61 still exceeds its 38.54-inch body, then enters at 38.75. Those width-only links leave key count and ports open; separate connection and installation checks still apply.
The nanoKEY Fold measures 11.10 inches across while open for playing; its 5.79-inch width is only the folded storage dimension. Because the active width is below the finder’s lowest valid 16-inch cap, it matches every supported 16–60-inch bare-body limit and creates no width transition within that range. Check the same width-only answer at 16 inches or 60 inches. This screen does not reserve room for hands, connectors, cable bends or supporting furniture.
An 88-key DIN brief crosses the M-Audio Keystation 88 body boundary at 54.25 inches
Alesis Q88 MKII has 88 keys and direct DIN, but its chassis width is unpublished. It is excluded from all of these numeric-width answers rather than treated as oversized or fitted by its image. See the same 88-key/DIN brief at 54.25 inches.
With an 88-key minimum and direct five-pin DIN required, Keystation 88 MK3's product-page width of 54.24 inches first passes at the next available quarter-inch cap, 54.25; it misses 54 inches. The separate Hammer 88 at 55.9 inches and Hammer 88 Pro at 56 inches remain outside until the valid 56-inch step. At a 56-inch cap, both original Hammer 88 and Hammer 88 Pro now clear the 88-key/DIN body screen; their exact weighted action and setup differences still need checking. A 54.25-inch pass is a body screen, not room for cables or a stand. Check 88 keys and DIN at 54 inches · recheck at 54.25 inches · compare at 56 inches. Read the Keystation 88 MK3, Hammer 88 and Hammer 88 Pro assessments for the separate action, setup and dimensions; compare the KeyLab Essential 88 when a smaller direct-DIN body is needed.
With an 88-key minimum and direct five-pin DIN, the 53.2677-inch Native Instruments Kontrol S88 MK3 fits the 54-inch cap. At 54 inches it joins the KeyLab Essential 88 and earlier Launchkey 88 MK3; the 54.24-inch Keystation 88 still misses. The S88 also remains within the 54.25-inch cap, while the 55.9-inch Hammer 88 and 56-inch Hammer 88 Pro do not enter until the 56-inch setting. At 56 inches with an 88-key minimum and direct DIN, S88, Keystation 88, Hammer 88 and Hammer 88 Pro all clear the body screen. Compare 54 inches, 54.25 and 56 inches with the same key/DIN requirements. These are bare-body limits, not cable-clearance guarantees.
Adding pressure-sensitive pads changes the brief independently of width and DIN. Keystation 88 and original Hammer 88 do not document a separate pad bank; the Pro's sixteen pads are velocity-sensitive, but continuous pressure is not established. Its channel aftertouch is a keybed feature, not proof of pad-pressure response. Check the same key, width and DIN limits with pressure-sensitive pads required; the Pro review keeps those controls distinct, and the pressure-sensitive KeyLab Essential 88 is a documented alternative.
The width rule screens documented bare-body dimensions only; original microKEY-25 is already below the 16-inch minimum, while earlier-enabled taktile-25, microKEY-37, taktile-49 and microKEY-61 first pass at 21, 22.25, 29.75 and 33.5 inches. Their exact U.S. KORG specifications are respectively 15.55, 20.91, 22.24, 29.53 and 33.46 inches; the older-generation flag and matching key floor are separate conditions. This is chassis width, not cable, hand or support clearance. Compare the 20.75-inch 25-key cap with 21 inches; for the 37-key microKEY, compare 22 inches and 22.25 inches; for taktile-49, 29.5 and 29.75 inches; and for microKEY-61, 33.25 and 33.5 inches. A model may still require adapter power, specific MIDI routing or a compatible current host.
MicroKEY2 widths: published body, not working clearance
With a 37-key minimum and 22-inch screen, the 21.93-inch FLkey 37 MK2 fits, while the 22.24-inch microKEY2-37 is too wide; the non-Air model first clears at 22.25 inches.
The 15.55-inch microKEY2-25 is narrower than the questionnaire's smallest 16-inch width cap, so the width screen alone never excludes it; compare its 25-key result at 16 and 16.25 inches below. At 22 inches, the 22.24-inch microKEY2-37 exceeds the bare-body limit and first clears the next allowed 22.25-inch cap.
The current reviewed library returns no candidate for the 49-key/27.75-inch screen; both KORG 49-key microKEY configurations are 27.91 inches wide, and this is not proof that no other keyboard exists. At 28 inches, both documented KORG 49-key microKEY sizes clear the body-width screen: microKEY2-49 and microKEY Air-49.
The current reviewed library returns no candidate for the 61-key/33.25-inch screen; both KORG 61-key microKEY configurations are 33.46 inches wide, and this is not proof that no other keyboard exists. At 33.5 inches, both documented KORG 61-key microKEY sizes clear the body-width screen.
KORG lists the non-Air microKEY2-25, -37, -49 and -61 at 15.55, 22.24, 27.91 and 33.46 inches wide, respectively; the first permitted quarter-inch caps that clear those bodies are 16, 22.25, 28 and 33.5 inches. These measurements are for the chassis only, so cable and hand clearance remain separate decisions. The 25-key body is narrower than the minimum selectable 16-inch cap; the wider models cross the numeric screen at separate thresholds.
microKEY2-25: 15.55 inches is below the 16-inch floor, so it stays in both the 16-inch and 16.25-inch width-only screens. Under the same earlier=no and 25-key conditions, it matches both at 16 inches and at 16.25 inches.
microKEY2-37 measures 22.24 inches: with a 37-key minimum it misses the 22-inch screen and fits the next valid 22.25-inch screen. The separate Air-37 has the same published body width but a Bluetooth operating mode that the non-Air model does not have.
At 49 keys, the 27.91-inch microKEY2-49 and microKEY Air-49 exceed 27.75 inches; the current reviewed library returns no candidate for that exact screen, rather than proving none exists elsewhere. Both KORG configurations clear 28 inches. For 61 keys, the same models cross between 33.25 inches, with no library match, and 33.5 inches, where microKEY2-61 and Air-61 are inside the published body limit.
Key range and width interact across the non-Air and Air sizes
At a 22.25-inch cap with a 37-key minimum, both KORG microKEY2-37 and microKEY Air-37 fit the body screen; the non-Air USB-only and Air wireless plans remain distinct. Compare microKEY2-37 and Air-37, then check these exact answers together or leave the earlier/current filter open.
At 28 inches, both 49-key KORG models clear the screen: microKEY2-49 is USB Type-B only, while Air-49 adds a separate battery-powered Bluetooth plan. Compare the same 49-key/28-inch choices and see them with the earlier/current filter left open.
At 33.5 inches, both 61-key models also fit: the non-Air 61 and Air-61 share a 33.46-inch body but not the same host modes. See the same 61-key/33.5-inch set and compare with the earlier/current filter left open; leave additional room for hands, plugs and support surfaces.
New M-Audio body-width boundaries are visible at the questionnaire's quarter-inch steps: Mini 32 MK3 (16.46 inches) first fits 16.5 after 16.25; Keystation 49 MK3 (32.3) first fits 32.5 after 32.25; Keystation 61 MK3 (39.2) first fits 39.25 after 39; and Keystation 88 MK3 (54.24) first fits 54.25 after 54. The original Hammer 88's listed long edge is 55.9 inches and Hammer 88 Pro is 56 inches; both cross between 55.75 and the valid 56-inch step, so the interface cannot separate them at their raw decimal widths. These are published body dimensions only. Compare the 16.25-inch and 16.5-inch screens for the Mini 32, 32.25-inch and 32.5-inch for the Keystation 49, 39-inch and 39.25-inch for the Keystation 61, 54-inch and 54.25-inch for the Keystation 88, and 55.75-inch versus 56-inch for the Hammer 88 and Hammer 88 Pro.
The M-Audio Oxygen Pro Mini is listed at 15.8 inches wide, so it passes every valid width-only cap from 16 inches onward without creating a transition. At the minimum cap it has just 0.2 inch of bare-body margin; plugs, hands and cable bends still need separate space.
For current/reference Akai models, original MPK Mini Plus at 17.76 inches first fits the next selectable 18-inch cap after failing 17.75; Mini MK3 and Play MK3 are each 12.5 inches and fit every permitted width-only cap from 16 inches. For the earlier 25-key compact screen, SynthStation25 is 12.20 inches wide and remains inside even the 16-inch minimum, so it introduces no numeric-width transition.
Akai's SynthStation25 quickstart gives 310 mm of body width (12.20 inches); under the same earlier=yes and 25-key conditions, it passes the 16-inch body cap, although that does not reserve room for its dock, plugs or hands. Check that same compact earlier-model screen at the minimum width, then add the real workspace clearance separately.
With earlier=yes, the Impulse bodies still cross at 20.75, 34.25 and 40.25 inches, and the earlier FLkey 37, 49 and 61 enter at 22, 31.25 and 37.5 inches. For current/reference Akai models, original MPK Mini Plus at 17.76 inches first fits the next selectable 18-inch cap after failing 17.75; Mini MK3 and Play MK3 are each 12.5 inches and fit every permitted width-only cap from 16 inches. The distinct Mini Plus II is 19.4 inches, failing 19.25 and entering at 19.5. These are chassis widths only.
The verified narrow bodies include the Novation Launchkey Mini 25 MK4 and current FLkey Mini 25 at 13.33 inches, plus the MPK Mini IV at 13.68 inches; all three are mini-key, 25-note controllers, but the MPK Mini IV has direct DIN while the Novation Minis use TRS Type-A MIDI, and their wider product contexts differ. MicroLab mk3 is 15.98 inches, MiniLab 3 is 14.02 inches, and standard full-size-key Launchkey 25 MK4 is 18.15 inches. That Launchkey body misses an 18-inch cap and enters at 18.25; Mini 37 at 18.81 inches misses 18.75 and enters at 19. MiniLab 37 is 19.80 inches; KeyStep 37 mk2 is 21.7; current FLkey 37 and standard Launchkey 37 MK4 are both 21.93 inches and miss 21.75 before entering at 22. Both are full-size 37-note synth-action controllers; the FLkey version has a current USB-C/DIN/pad arrangement, while differences in software focus and controls call for individual checks. Both KeyStep Pro editions are 23.2. The FLkey 49 MK2 and standard Launchkey 49 MK4 are both 28.74 inches wide and enter between 28.5 and 28.75; compare their different integrations and surfaces rather than assuming identical setups. The non-Essential KeyLab 49 is 30.98 inches, Essential 49 is 31.1, Essential 61 is 35, and both FLkey 61 MK2 and Launchkey 61 MK4 are 35.24 inches—excluded at 35 and admitted at 35.25. Essential 88 is 49.53 inches; Launchkey 88 is 50.16 inches—excluded at 50 and admitted at 50.25; non-Essential KeyLab 88 is 50.98. All three current 25-mini-key controllers pass every width-only result from 16 through 60 inches, but their output connectors and other control arrangements remain separate checks. KeyStep mk2 32-key and standard KeyLab 61 remain unknown for body width, not assumed to match siblings.
The Akai APC Key 25 MK2 is 12.4 inches wide and the LPK25 MK2 is 13.7 inches wide, so both fall below the minimum selectable 16-inch cap and remain in every width-only set from 16 to 60. Their tasks differ: APC adds a 7.6-inch-deep Ableton clip grid, while LPK25 MK2 prioritizes an arpeggiator and a shallower 4-inch body. Body-width filtering does not settle their USB connector standard, DIN or pad capabilities.
FLkey Mini 25 at 13.33 inches fits every permitted width cap from 16 to 60 inches; the full-size FLkey 37 at 21.93 inches fails at 21.75 inches and first enters at 22. Current FLkey 49 at 28.74 inches fails the 28.5-inch cap and first enters at 28.75; current FLkey 61 at 35.24 inches fails at 35 and first enters at 35.25. These are body-only numbers, not space for plugs, hands or pedals.
Standard Launchkey 25 MK4 is 18.15 inches wide: an 18-inch cap excludes it, and the next valid 18.25-inch cap admits it.
The standard Launchkey 37 MK4 is 21.93 inches wide: the 21.75-inch answer excludes it, while 22 inches admits it.
At a 28.5-inch cap, the 28.74-inch Launchkey 49 MK4 does not fit; at 28.75 inches it enters the body-width results. Its 0.01-inch nominal margin is not practical space for plugs, cable bends or hands.
The published 35.24-inch Launchkey 61 MK4 misses a 35-inch maximum and enters at 35.25; the 50.16-inch Launchkey 88 MK4 misses 50 inches and enters at 50.25. Their selectable quarter-inch thresholds are bare-body comparisons only, not evidence of cable, stand or wrist clearance.
Those are manufacturer-listed chassis widths, not usable desk clearances. Standard Launchkey 25 at 18.15 inches fails an 18-inch cap and enters at 18.25; Mini 37 at 18.81 misses 18.75 and enters at 19; MiniLab 37 at 19.80 misses 19.75 and appears at 20; KeyStep 37 at 21.7 misses 21.5 and appears at 21.75; standard Launchkey 37 at 21.93 misses 21.75 and enters at 22; the two 23.2-inch Pro bodies miss 23.0 and appear at 23.25. The 30.98-inch KeyLab 49 misses 30.75 and appears at 31; the Essential 49's 31.1-inch body misses 31 and enters at 31.25. A quarter inch is the input increment, so do not round a tight fit down or treat a numeric pass as a placement guarantee.
At the wider thresholds, the published 35-inch Essential 61 clears 35 inches but not 34.75; the Essential 88 at 49.53 clears 49.75 but not 49.5. The standard KeyLab 61 and 32-key KeyStep mk2 do not clear any numeric cap yet because their exact body widths were not confirmed. Each verified comparison uses the body field only. Reserve the space needed for USB and MIDI plugs, pedals, hands and a suitable stand.
The result sections below keep the exact cap in each finder link and show the complete assessed match set for that number.
KORG Keystage body boundaries with key range and DIN held in the same finder brief
At a 49-key minimum, 32-inch body cap and DIN requirement, Keystage-49 at 32.05 inches misses. The KeyLab 49 remains inside the same bare-body screen. Check the exact 49-key/32-inch/DIN answers.
At the next valid 32.25-inch cap, Keystage-49 fits the 49-key/DIN brief; 32 inches is too narrow. KORG lists DIN OUT, but its manual says to power the board separately when controlling an external tone generator; DIN is not audio. Read the Keystage-49 review and compare the same answers at 32.25 inches.
With 61 keys and DIN required, Keystage-61 at 38.54 inches misses the 38.5-inch cap. The Oxygen Pro 61 is one documented 61-key DIN option within that body limit. Check the exact 61-key/38.5-inch/DIN answers.
At the next valid 38.75-inch cap, Keystage-61 joins the 61-key/DIN results. It has a different 38.54-inch body from Keystage-49, and the width match still does not provide cable or hand clearance; separate power and an audio-producing instrument remain necessary for hardware playing. Read the Keystage-61 review and recheck the same answers at 38.75 inches.
M-Audio publishes 19.3-inch, 31.5-inch and 38.0-inch bodies for Oxygen Pro 25, 49 and 61: they enter the width-only results at the next valid caps of 19.5, 31.5 and 38 inches, respectively. These are body-width transitions only, not assurances of cable, hand, pedal or stand clearance.
Across M-Audio’s Oxygen Pro, MKV and MK IV siblings, Oxygen Pro 25/49/61 bodies measure 19.3/31.5/38 inches and first fit at caps 19.5/31.5/38; Oxygen 25/49/61 (MKV) measure 19.3/32/38.5 inches and first fit at 19.5/32/38.5; the earlier Oxygen 25/49/61 MK IV have longest listed dimensions 19.3/32/38.5 inches and cross at those same 19.5/32/38.5 caps when earlier models are included. The MK IV manual axis order conflicts with the illustrations, so treat the long-edge width as an interpretation and verify a close fit; all are bare-body screens, not cable or stand clearance. The reviewed Native Instruments product page and M32 manual publish no chassis width, so a numeric maximum-width answer withholds M32 even at the 60-inch cap; this is missing evidence, not a claim that the board physically exceeds the limit.
The MKV 25 crosses between 19.25 and 19.5 inches; compare the 18.81-inch Launchkey Mini 37 that already fits at 19.25 with the Oxygen 25 (MKV) that first fits at 19.5. For the 49-key threshold, the 31.5-inch Oxygen Pro 49 fits the 31.75-inch cap but the 32-inch Oxygen 49 (MKV) does not; the latter enters at 32 inches. Likewise, Oxygen Pro 61 at 38 inches fits 38.25, while Oxygen 61 (MKV) at 38.5 inches first fits the 38.5-inch cap. The MKV 49 quickstart labels its dimension order “Width x Length x Height”; the exact 32-inch first dimension is used here as body width. Check the model page/manual and allow separate space for controls and leads.

With earlier=yes and a 25-key floor, the 10.94-inch nanoKEY Studio and 12.80-inch Black nanoKEY2 fit both these caps. Their host routes differ, and nanoKEY2 has no documented Bluetooth. The 15.55-inch microKEY2-25 is another separate USB Type-B model. These are bare-chassis screens, not setup clearance. Check 19.25 inches · compare 19.5 inches.
At a 49-key minimum, the 31.75-inch result is now 13 models, including microKEY2-49; the 32-inch result is 15 with that model already inside. Check 31.75 inches · compare 32 inches.
With earlier=yes and 61 keys, the 38.25-inch cap returns 11 models including microKEY2-61; at 38.5 inches the result is 13, with the same KORG body already inside. Check 38.25 inches · compare 38.5 inches.
Earlier Oxygen MK IV width boundaries with key minimum held constant
The three MK IV manuals give longest listed dimensions of 19.3, 32 and 38.5 inches for the 25-, 49- and 61-key bodies. Their tables label dimension axes “Length x Width x Height,” which conflicts with the illustrated keyboard orientation. These screens use the longest listed number as the long-edge body width; confirm the exact unit before a tight installation. They do not include leads, hand space, pedal reach or stand clearance. Each pair below keeps earlier=yes and the stated minimum-key answer fixed.
With earlier=yes, a 25-key minimum and a 19.25-inch body cap return 27 assessed models, including the 10.94-inch nanoKEY Studio, 12.80-inch nanoKEY2, 11.10-inch-open nanoKEY Fold and 16.46-inch Keystation Mini 32 MK3; Oxygen 25 MK IV at its interpreted 19.3-inch long edge is just outside. The 18.15-inch Launchkey 25 MK4 is another narrow assessed match. Check that exact 19.25-inch, earlier, 25-key finder result.
At the same earlier and 25-key minimum, a 19.5-inch cap returns 31 models and still includes the 10.94-inch nanoKEY Studio and 12.80-inch nanoKEY2, which were already inside at 19.25. The cap admits Oxygen 25 MK IV alongside the separately identified Oxygen 25 (MKV), Oxygen Pro 25, the 11.10-inch-open nanoKEY Fold and the 16.46-inch Keystation Mini 32 MK3. Read the 25 MK IV assessment and Mini 32 assessment, then recheck the same answers at 19.5 inches.
With earlier=yes, a 49-key minimum and a 31.75-inch cap return 13 assessed models; Oxygen 49 MK IV at its interpreted 32-inch long edge is outside. The Oxygen Pro 49 is an included, separate current/reference sibling with a 31.5-inch body. Check that exact 31.75-inch, earlier, 49-key result.
At the same earlier and 49-key minimum, a 32-inch cap returns 15 models and admits Oxygen 49 MK IV as well as Oxygen 49 (MKV); Oxygen Pro 49, with a separate 31.5-inch body, already fits below this step. Read the 49 MK IV assessment and compare the exact same answers at 32 inches.
With earlier=yes, a 61-key minimum and a 38.25-inch cap return 11 assessed models; Oxygen 61 MK IV at its interpreted 38.5-inch long edge remains outside. The Oxygen Pro 61 is an included, separate current/reference sibling at 38 inches. Check that exact 38.25-inch, earlier, 61-key result.
At the same earlier and 61-key minimum, a 38.5-inch cap returns 13 models and admits Oxygen 61 MK IV alongside Oxygen 61 (MKV); the 38-inch Oxygen Pro 61 already clears the lower step. Read the 61 MK IV assessment and recheck the exact same answers at 38.5 inches.
Native Instruments S-series bodies create additional exact-width examples in these earlier=yes key-floor interactions. With a 49-key minimum, the 31.5827-inch S49 MK3 fits a 31.75-inch cap alongside Oxygen Pro 49. At a 32-inch cap, S49 remains in while 38-inch S61 is outside. With a 61-key minimum, S61 at 38.0866 inches fits at 38.25, while S88 is too wide; at 38.5 inches, A61 remains withheld because its width is unknown. Read the S49 and S61 assessments. Compare earlier=yes / 49 keys / 31.75 inches with the same answers at 32 inches, then earlier=yes / 61 keys / 38.25 inches with the same answers at 38.5 inches.
With earlier=yes, a 25-key minimum and a 19.25-inch cap return 27 models; original microKEY-25 at 15.55 inches is already inside, while the taktile-25 remains too wide. Check that exact result.
At the same earlier and 25-key floor, a 19.5-inch cap returns 31 models; original microKEY-25 remains inside and taktile-25 remains outside. Compare the same key/generation answers at 19.5 inches.
At a 49-key minimum, the 31.75-inch result is 13 models and includes the 29.53-inch taktile-49; the 32-inch result is 15 with that model already inside. Check 31.75 inches · compare 32 inches.
At a 49-key minimum, the 32-inch result is 15 models and retains the 29.53-inch taktile-49 already inside at 31.75 inches. Check the exact same answers at 32 inches.

With earlier=yes and 61 keys, the 38.5-inch cap returns 13 models including the 33.46-inch original microKEY-61, already inside at 38.25 inches. Check the same answers at 38.5 inches.
KORG earlier-generation width steps with key count held fixed
The exact first-fit thresholds use KORG’s body widths and the finder’s quarter-inch increments. Earlier=yes and the stated key minimum stay fixed within each pair; only the width cap changes. The taktile-25 is 20.91 inches, the original microKEY-37 22.24, the taktile-49 29.53 and the original microKEY-61 33.46. The original microKEY-25 is 15.55 inches, already below the 16-inch lower bound. These are published chassis widths, not setup-space promises; the taktile DIN route and older microKEY host/hub requirements still need separate checks.
With earlier=yes and at least 25 keys, the 20.91-inch taktile-25 misses a 20.75-inch cap; the 15.55-inch original microKEY-25 still fits. The smaller cap has 33 matches, including microKEY-25, but not taktile-25. Check those exact earlier/25-key/20.75-inch answers.
At the same earlier and 25-key answers, a 21-inch cap first admits the 20.91-inch taktile-25. The result has 34 matches; the taktile-25 joins the still-included microKEY-25. Recheck the same answers at 21 inches.
With earlier=yes and at least 37 keys, the 22.24-inch original microKEY-37 misses a 22-inch cap. Nine width-confirmed models remain, including the KeyStep 37 mk2; the microKEY-37 is not in that set. Check the exact earlier/37-key/22-inch answers.
At the same earlier and 37-key answers, a 22.25-inch cap first admits the 22.24-inch original microKEY-37. Twelve models match; KORG’s original USB Type-B keyboard is a distinct mini-key option beside microKEY2-37 and Air-37. Compare the same answers at 22.25 inches.
With earlier=yes and at least 49 keys, the 29.53-inch taktile-49 misses a 29.5-inch cap. Six width-confirmed configurations remain, including the separate microKEY2-49; they do not make the taktile’s width fit. Check the exact earlier/49-key/29.5-inch answers.
At the same earlier and 49-key answers, a 29.75-inch cap first admits the 29.53-inch taktile-49. Seven models match and the standard taktile-49 now appears with its separate 16-pad/eight-knob configuration. Recheck the same answers at 29.75 inches.
With earlier=yes and at least 61 keys, no width-confirmed 61-key configuration fits a 33.25-inch cap. No reviewed 61-key configuration with documented width meets a 33.25-inch cap when earlier models are included; the KORG 61-key sizes documented here are 33.46 inches. This is the assessed library result, not proof no qualifying keyboard exists anywhere.
Check the exact earlier/61-key/33.25-inch answers.
At the same earlier and 61-key answers, a 33.5-inch cap admits the 33.46-inch original microKEY-61 alongside two separately assessed KORG siblings. Three models match; read the original microKEY-61 for mini-key and USB hub limitations before treating a body fit as a setup fit. Compare the same answers at 33.5 inches.
Akai's original MPK Mini Plus is 17.76 inches wide; the MPK Mini MK3 and sound-producing Mini Play MK3 are each 12.5 inches. Compare those with the separately named 19.4-inch MPK Mini Plus II. The numeric screen checks only the published chassis, not their USB/DIN needs, headphones, cable bends or hand room. See the width-only set at 17.75 inches or at the next valid 18-inch step.
Earlier Impulse width boundaries with the playing and connection needs held constant
At 20.5 inches, MPK25's documented 18.78-inch body and the 19.25-inch MPK225 both clear the earlier-enabled 25-key DIN/pad screen alongside MPK Mini Plus II, MiniLab 3, MiniLab 37, Launchkey 25 MK4 and MPK Mini IV; Impulse 25 misses. Compare the semi-weighted MPK25 with the full-size-key MPK225 and 25-key MPK Mini IV; their key formats and control surfaces are not interchangeable.
At 20.75 inches, MPK25 and MPK225 remain among the seven narrower-width 25-key DIN-and-pressure-pad matches, then Impulse 25 enters as an eighth; Impulse 49 and 61 remain too wide. The Impulse body is 525 mm converted to 20.67 inches, with only 0.08 inch nominal margin. Read the MPK25 and MPK225 assessments alongside the Impulse 25; body width is not plug or hand clearance, and Akai does not identify the USB device connector as USB-C.
At a 34-inch cap, the earlier 49-key DIN-and-pressure-pad brief returns nine configurations: KeyLab 49, KeyLab Essential 49, 49SL, FLkey 49 MK1/MK2, Launchkey 49 MK4, MPK249, MPK49 and the 33-1/16-inch A-500PRO; 34.02-inch Impulse 49 misses. The A-500PRO is a distinct A-PRO design with channel-aftertouch keys, eight pressure-responsive pads, nine knobs and nine sliders. MPK49 differs from MPK249: its manual documents 12 pressure-sensitive pads, eight knobs and eight faders. The MPK49, MPK249, 49SL MkIII and FLkey 49 MK1 show other contrasting pad/fader, sequencer/CV and DAW layouts.
At 34.25 inches, the same 49-key DIN-and-pressure-pad brief returns ten configurations, including the A-500PRO, MPK49 and MPK249, and adds Impulse 49; its US product page prints a conflicting 33.3-inch equivalent for the 864 mm body, so this comparison uses 34.02 inches from metric conversion. A-500PRO measures 33-1/16 inches (33.0625 in) and first clears the valid 33.25-inch step; it is not counted as a current seller offer. Compare A-500PRO with Impulse 49, the KeyLab 49, 49SL MkIII and Launchkey 49 MK4; Impulse 49 crosses at 34.02 inches, while the Roland width is its published body dimension only.
At 40 inches, the earlier 61-key DIN-and-pressure-pad brief returns seven configurations: Essential 61, 61SL, FLkey 61 MK1/MK2, Launchkey 61 MK4, MPK261 and 39-1/2-inch A-800PRO; 40.24-inch Impulse 61 misses. The A-PRO model adds channel-aftertouch keys and pressure-responsive pads, but is a discontinued controller, not an 88-key substitute. The 61SL has separate power/sequencer/CV routing; FLkey is another DAW-focused layout. The MPK261 and 61SL MkIII have different split/control setups.
At 40.25 inches, the same 61-key DIN-and-pressure-pad brief returns eight configurations and adds Impulse 61; A-800PRO is already inside at 39.5 inches and MPK261 at 35.63 inches. Impulse 61 has only 0.01 inch nominal body margin. Read the A-800PRO separately from MPK261, Impulse 61 and the 61SL MkIII; no numeric pass certifies cable, hand or stand clearance.
Requiring USB-C with the 49-key, 34.25-inch, DIN-and-pressure-pad brief excludes Impulse 49 because its documented computer port is USB Type-B. The KeyLab 49, Essential 49, FLkey 49 MK2 and Launchkey 49 MK4 are the distinct documented USB-C matches; a cable adapter does not turn the controller's socket into USB-C.

The A-300PRO’s 23-7/8-inch chassis first fits the next selectable 24-inch cap when earlier models, a 25-key floor, DIN Out and pressure-sensitive pads are required. The discontinued 32-key A-PRO has a wider assignable control surface than its note span suggests. The A-500PRO’s 33-1/16-inch chassis first fits the 33.25-inch cap when earlier models, a 49-key floor, DIN Out and pressure-sensitive pads are required. The A-800PRO’s 39-1/2-inch chassis first fits the 39.5-inch cap when earlier models, a 61-key floor, DIN Out and pressure-sensitive pads are required. The Launchkey 49 MK4 width boundary
At 28.5 inches, twenty-one configurations with documented widths fit, including the 19.3-inch Oxygen Pro 25 and 15.8-inch Oxygen Pro Mini; the 31.5-inch Oxygen Pro 49 remains outside.
At 28.75 inches, twenty-three configurations with documented widths fit; Oxygen Pro 25 and Oxygen Pro Mini are included, while Oxygen Pro 49 at 31.5 inches still misses.
At an exact 28.5-inch width cap, both the 28.74-inch FLkey 49 MK2 and Launchkey 49 MK4 bodies remain outside. At the next valid 28.75-inch cap, both enter because each published chassis is 0.01 inch below that answer. The width-only finder returns twenty-one configurations with documented widths at 28.5 inches, including the 19.3-inch Oxygen Pro 25 and 15.8-inch Oxygen Pro Mini; the 31.5-inch Oxygen Pro 49 remains too wide. At 28.75 inches, the width-only finder returns twenty-three configurations with documented widths because both 28.74-inch models now fit; Oxygen Pro 25 and the Oxygen Pro Mini remain included, while Pro 49 is still outside. The same exact-model widths lead to distinct controllers: FLkey 49 has its FL Studio-focused integration, while Launchkey 49 is a separate Launchkey workflow. At a 50-inch cap, Essential 88 is the only reviewed match; Launchkey 88 at 50.16 inches is excluded by the body-width limit. This five-condition case also requires at least 88 keys, USB-C, direct DIN and pressure-sensitive pads. See the five-condition finder result at 50 inches.
At 50.25 inches, the same 88-key USB-C, direct-DIN and pressure-pad brief also admits Launchkey 88 MK4. Recheck that exact brief at 50.25 inches; the other four answers are unchanged.
Alesis Q88 MKII has 88 keys and DIN but is omitted from both five-condition answers: neither a numeric body width, USB-C socket shape nor separate pad-pressure response is documented. Compare the same five conditions at 50 inches with 50.25 inches.

Earlier Launchkey MK3 width steps
With earlier=yes, Launchkey 25 MK3 at 18.23 inches enters at 18.25; Launchkey 37 MK3 at 21.85 enters at 22; Launchkey 49 MK3 at 31.06 enters at 31.25; Launchkey 61 MK3 at 37.48 enters at 37.5; and Launchkey 88 MK3 at exactly 50.00 inches passes a 50-inch cap.
When earlier models are explicitly included, the MK3 bodies add their own quarter-inch boundaries: 18.23 inches for Launchkey 25, 21.85 for 37, 31.06 for 49, 37.48 for 61, and exactly 50.00 for 88; Mini 25 is 12.99 inches, already below the finder's 16-inch minimum. At a 16-inch cap Mini MK3 is in the width results, but the full-size 25 misses. At 18.25 the full-size 25 enters; at 22 the 37 enters; at 31.25 the 49 enters; at 37.5 the 61 enters; and at 50 the 88 enters. Each is a body-only screen; cables, hands, pedals and stand support need their own space.
At the 18-inch cap with earlier models enabled, Launchkey 25 MK3's 18.23-inch body stays outside; the 12.99-inch Launchkey Mini MK3 still fits.

Earlier FLkey MK1 widths cross the cap only when range and ports also fit
The earlier FLkey MK1 bodies are distinct from their current MK2 namesakes: the first-generation 37, 49 and 61 models are listed at 21.85, 31.06 and 37.48 inches and use USB Type-B with direct DIN. The 37/49/61 English guides document pad-aftertouch settings, not keyboard aftertouch; the 49/61 action is not documented as semi-weighted. This section keeps the user’s earlier-model choice, key floor, width, DIN and pad-pressure requirements together. Every width is bare body only.
At 21.75 inches, the earlier FLkey 37 remains outside
At 21.75 inches, MPK Mini Plus II and MiniLab 37 meet the earlier-enabled 37-key, DIN and pressure-pad brief; the 21.85-inch earlier FLkey 37 MK1 remains outside.

At 22 inches, FLkey 37 MK1 enters
At 22 inches, MPK Mini Plus II joins FLkey 37 MK1, current FLkey 37 and Launchkey 37 MK4 in the earlier-enabled 37-key DIN/pad result; Launchkey 37 MK3 is excluded because pressure-sensitive pads are not documented.

At 31 inches, FLkey 49 MK1 still misses
At 31 inches, the five matches are MPK49 (28.74 inches), MPK249 (29 inches), KeyLab 49, current FLkey 49 MK2 and Launchkey 49 MK4. FLkey 49 MK1 at 31.06 inches and Essential 49 at 31.1 inches remain outside; the body cap is not cable clearance.
Check the same 49-key DIN and pad requirements at 31 inches.
Read current FLkey 49 MK2 and the excluded FLkey 49 MK1 assessment; 31 inches is a body cap, not usable cable clearance.
Compare both MPK49 and MPK249 at this cap: the MPK49 body is 28.74 inches, while MPK249 is 29 inches, and their pad/fader layouts differ.
At 31.25 inches, FLkey 49 MK1 enters
At 31.25 inches, the seven-model earlier 49-key, DIN and pressure-pad shortlist includes MPK49 (28.74 inches), MPK249 (29 inches), KeyLab 49, Essential 49, FLkey 49 MK1/MK2 and Launchkey 49 MK4. The FLkey's nine faders and pad-aftertouch settings do not turn its 31.06-inch shell into extra clearance.

At 37.25 inches, FLkey 61 MK1 still misses
At 37.25 inches, FLkey 61 MK1 remains outside the 61-key DIN and pressure-pad set because its exact 37.48-inch body is too wide, while 61-key MPK261 already fits at 35.63 inches.

At 37.5 inches, FLkey 61 MK1 joins the 61-key DIN and pressure-pad set; MPK261 is already inside at its 35.63-inch body width. The same brief still excludes Launchkey 61 MK3 because pressure-sensitive pads are not established.

A strict 32-inch cap excludes 49SL MkIII
With earlier=yes enabled, the 32-inch width-only cap returns 27 width-confirmed products; 49SL MkIII at 32.17 inches and Keystation 49 MK3 at 32.3 inches remain out, while FLkey 49 MK1 at 31.06 inches and Mini 32 MK3 at 16.46 inches fit on body width alone. These are chassis dimensions, not space for connectors, hands or neighboring equipment.
Find every assessed body at or below 32 inches with earlier models included.
Read the narrower FLkey 49 MK1 assessment; its USB Type-B host connection, DIN output and pressure-responsive pads are a different tradeoff from the wider SL.
49SL MkIII enters at 32.25 inches
Raising the earlier-enabled width-only limit to 32.25 inches adds the 817 mm 49SL MkIII (32.17 inches by conversion) for 27 total; the 61SL MkIII at 38.62 inches remains outside. The 49SL's small nominal margin is not usable cable, hand or stand clearance.
Find every assessed body at or below 32.25 inches with earlier models included.
Read the 49SL MkIII assessment for its 49-key semi-weighted range, channel pressure, sequencer, DIN/CV routing and required external power. The manual's printed 32.12-inch equivalent conflicts with 817 mm; the width comparison uses the converted metric dimension.
61SL MkIII still misses at 38.5 inches
At 38.5 inches, the earlier-enabled width-only set contains 33 products; 49SL MkIII remains within it, while 61SL MkIII's published 38.62-inch body remains excluded. That limit does not change the set's key-count or port requirements because this is a width-only finder query.
Find every assessed body at or below 38.5 inches with earlier models included.
Read the 61SL MkIII assessment for its longer range and hybrid-studio connections; consider the 49SL sibling only if 49 physical keys are enough.
61SL MkIII enters at 38.75 inches
At 38.75 inches, the 61SL MkIII's 38.62-inch chassis enters the earlier-enabled width-only set, taking it from 33 at 38.5 to 34; 49SL MkIII remains in both. These bare-body boundaries do not reserve ports, cable bends, hand room or stand depth.
Find every assessed body at or below 38.75 inches with earlier models included.
Compare the 61SL MkIII with its 49-key sibling: the longer model adds twelve keys and 164 mm of body width but still needs the included 12 V supply, is USB Type-B rather than USB-C, and generates no audio.
Earlier Akai MPK controllers cross different quarter-inch caps
These cases keep earlier=yes, a key-count floor, DIN MIDI Out and pressure-sensitive pads fixed while changing a measured body's width ceiling. The older MPK25 at 18.78 inches and MPK49 at 28.74 inches create distinct thresholds before MPK225 at 19.25 and MPK249 at 29.0 inches. Those are bare chassis figures, not cable, hand, stand or usable-desk clearance.
With at least 25 keys, DIN and pressure-sensitive pads required, an 18.75-inch cap returns three reviewed models—MPK Mini IV, MiniLab 3 and Launchkey 25 MK4—but excludes the 18.78-inch MPK25. The MPK25's exact manual width is a chassis measurement, and an empty wider-key or controller inventory cannot be inferred from this narrow result.
Check 25 keys/DIN/pads at 18.75 inches.
At 19 inches, the same 25-key/DIN/pad brief returns four models because Akai lists the MPK25 at 477 mm (18.78 inches); MPK225's separate 19.25-inch chassis still misses. The MPK25 has 12 pressure-sensitive pads and 12 knobs, unlike the 25-key MPK225's eight pads and four switches.
Recheck the same 25-key requirements at 19 inches.
At 19.25 inches, the result grows to five as MPK225 joins; MPK25 remains inside. Both older models have distinct hardware layouts, and neither published body width includes connector or hand clearance. Compare the MPK25 and MPK225 assessments rather than treating their shared 25-key floor as equivalent.
Check the same 25-key requirements at 19.25 inches.
With at least 49 keys plus DIN and pressure-sensitive pads, a 28.5-inch cap returns no assessed match: MPK49's 730 mm (28.74-inch) body is too wide, while the reviewed wider 49-key models also exceed this cap. That is a gap in this assessed library for the exact limit, not proof that no manufacturer makes another such controller. The MPK88 cannot pass a numeric width rule because its manual publishes no body width.
Check the 49-key DIN/pad brief at 28.5 inches.
At 28.75 inches, MPK49 enters alongside FLkey 49 MK2 and Launchkey 49 MK4, returning three exact matches; MPK249 at 29 inches still misses. The MPK49 uses 49 semi-weighted keys, 12 pressure-sensitive pads, eight knobs and eight faders, and its 28.74-inch body leaves only 0.01 inch nominal margin. Read the MPK49 assessment beside the two Novation models; cable clearance remains separate.
Check the same 49-key requirements at 28.75 inches.
At 29 inches, MPK249 joins MPK49, FLkey 49 MK2 and Launchkey 49 MK4 for four matches. MPK249 has a different 16-pad/eight-fader layout and 29-inch body; MPK49 is not a variant of that model.
Recheck the same 49-key requirements at 29 inches.
With earlier=yes, 88 keys, DIN Out and pressure-sensitive pads required, five reviewed 88-key models match when no width cap is supplied; the Alesis Q88 MKII is not one of them because no pressure-sensitive pad bank is documented. MPK88's published width is unknown, so do not apply a numeric fit claim without measuring the exact unit. The MPK88 review covers its 88 fully weighted hammer-action keys and 16 pads, but cannot establish a desk-width pass. See this same 88-key/DIN/pad assessment.
Check the same 88-key DIN/pad brief without a width cap.
For a 61-key minimum with DIN and pressure-sensitive pads, MPK261’s 35.63-inch body misses 35.5 inches and first fits the next valid 35.75-inch cap. Its 0.12-inch nominal body margin is not connector, hand or stand clearance. The MPK261 adds the longest key range and split-zone routing; a separately reviewed 61-key Essential remains a different layout and width.
Check 61 keys/DIN/pads at 35.5 inches · recheck at 35.75 inches.
See the earlier-model comparison for broader tradeoffs. Akai does not identify the physical USB connector as USB-C in the inspected MPK manuals; check the exact unit and seller edition. A numeric pass remains a body-only screen.
